Toddlers in care: Child care regulations require infant/ toddler diapers to be changed as needed.

School age children in care: Full-time care will be available on school holidays, in-service days and during the summer months
Specializaitons: This facility does not have an approved specialized program for moderate risk activities such as gymnastics, swimming, camping, wilderness walks (in the woods), horseback riding, conoeing, skiing, climbing, fishing, skateboarding, rollerblading, scooter riding and bike riding....at this time.
Personal Belongings:
- an assigned locker will be assigned to store each child's personal belongings
- any special toy or blanket that the child wishes ar naptime or at other times should be labeled & brought to the facility by the parent- children will be allowed to bring their own toys on specific days (show-n-tell)
- blankets and other coverings are to be provided by parents, and are to be sent home every Friday to be washed
- children are to bring an extra set of clothes appropriate to the season marked with the child's name to be kept at the facility. If your child uses the extra clothes, please be sure to replace them the following day they are in care
- please do not send electronic devices or games with your child
Television, movie viewing, video games and computer use: appropriate videos i.e. learning or disney videos will be played periodically in the facility, but will not exceed 1 hour in a 24 hour period. At this time a computer is unavailable for the children's use.
Transportation:
- Transportation to and from school will be provided by the School District (bus)
- This facility does not provide transportation between the child's home and the facility for the purpose of attending child care
- This facility does not provide transportation ta and from school from the facility for school age children
- This facility does not need you to leave care seat(s) for your children at the facility for any transportation including field trips
- At any time if the facility transports children, they will be individually restrained with a seat belt or appropriate child restraint device; not occupy the front sear of a vehicle if there is an airbag on the passenger side; and they will be received by a responsible individual if they are yournger than kindergarten age.
- The vehicle used to transport children will be in good repair, is safe and free of hazards and in hazardous weather conditions is equipped with appropriate safety equipment, such as snow tires or chains
- In a medical emergency, children will be transported by the administrator
Field trips/activities away from the facility: are not available at this time
When they do start....we will be walking to different destinations i.e. nature walks, walking to the ice cream shop
a written permission slip will be required for any trip outside the facility
Parent visits: Parents are always allowed free access to their children and to all areas utilized by the children. Parents are encouraged to visit as well as participate in the program
Smoking: this is a non-smoking facility
regulations require that a smoke free environment be maintained, including vegicles used to transport children.
Cold weather outdoor play:
please provide appropriate clothing every day fo rthe weather conditions so your child can enjoy outdoor play.
Outdoor play will be part of the children's daily activites except when the outdoor temperature/wind-chill is lower than 10 degrees or the following extreme climatic condtions exist: heavy rain, hail, lightning, icy conditions ect.
Animals: There is a dog that lives on the premisis named Mackenzie Jean. She is a 3 year old Visla, has shots up to date and is great with children. However, the children will not have access to her.
Firearms: Firearms and ammunition are not present at the facility.
Poisonous Plants: This facility does not have poisonous plants on the premisis.
Substitue, emergency and volunteer caregivers:
- This facility does not use substitute or volunteer caregivers on a non-emergency basis when the facility is unable to provide care
- Parents need to make their own arrangements when we are unable to provide care.
- Substitutes are usen in emergency situation (these caregivers will meet caregiver requirements)
- If provided, substitute care is provided at the licensed facility, not in another location.
Child Protection:
Alaska Statutes require that all licensed child care providers, who have reasonable cause to suspect that a child has suffered harm as a result of abuse or neglect, must Immediately (as soon as possible -- no later thatn 24 hours) report taht information to the nearest office of children's services (OCS)
Complaints:
The Department of Health and Social Services is the agency mandated by law to license child care facilities. Therefore, this agency monitors and investigates complaints involving violations of child care licensing regulations.
If a parent is dissatisfied, please talk to the administrator about the problem. If this does not work, or if the parents wish, they may call the Child Care Program office at : 1 (888) 268-4632
Policy Changes:
Families will be notified, in writing, of any changes in the policies at least one week before changes are made.
